PHY205-H1F: Fall 2006

Welcome!

Physics is all around us every day of our lives.  In this course we will take a careful look at familiar experiences and objects around us, and see how they are viewed through the eyes of a physicist.  There are no prerequisites for this course; only basic algebraic and geometric mathematical skills are needed.

Checking Marks:  To check your marks in the course please log on to portal.utoronto.ca .  You should see “Physics of Everyday Life” in your “My Courses” list.  Click on that link.  On the side-bar on the left there is link called “Course Tools” – click on it.  You should see a menu that includes a link to “My Grades” – click on it.    I will try to update the marks within 2 weeks of due-dates; if you see an apparent problem with your marks, or cannot find them, please let me know (Harlow).

All students registered in this course are required to have an iclicker personal response system, which are available for $35 at the counter of the Campus Bookstore. Each clicker has a unique ID which will be linked with your student ID. During class time these will be used for informal discussion questions as well as quizzes which count toward your participation mark. iclicker been adopted as the official response system of the University of Toronto, and the bookstore tells me they will be buying back used clickers at the end of the semester.
