The H. L. Welsh Distinguished Lecturer Series Program for 2012

The speakers for 2012 are:

 

Kerry Emanuel, MIT

Dr. Kerry Emanuel is a Professor of Atmospheric Science in the Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he is also the Director of the Program in Atmospheres, Oceans, and Climate. He has a Ph.D. in Meteorology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is a fellow of the American Meteorological Society. His research interests focus on tropical meteorology and climate, with a specialty in hurricane physics.


Roger Bilham, University of Colorado

Dr. Roger Bilham is a Professor of Geological Sciences at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where he is also a fellow in the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences. He has a Ph.D. in Geophysics from Cambridge University and is a fellow of the American Geophysical Union. His research is focused on the causes and impacts of earthquakes, with an interest in earthquake engineering.
