The CMS experiment at the LHC has now laid the foundation for impending discoveries at the LHC
-
- CMS Heavy Ion Collision
After much anticipation, the first significant data taking period of the
LHC started in March 2010, culminating in a 40 pb-1 dataset by the end
of the year, which represents the initial foray for Discovery Physics at
the new energy frontier. In this talk using a few demonstrative analyses
I will relate the CMS experience with this dataset, from the
prerequisite observations of Standard Model Physics as benchmarks for
the detector to the first inroads into the speculative physics which has
so far escaped observation.
