LabVIEW is a graphical programming environment used extensively at the University and in Physics as both a research and teaching tool.  The goal of this class is to become comfortable with the LabVIEW programming environment and to learn how to create LabVIEW applications.  Experience in a computer programming language is helpful though no prior knowledge of LabVIEW is required.  A nominal fee is charged to cover the cost of the printed manual and instruction time.

This class is delivered as two, three hour sessions.  Each session consists of lecture time interspersed with programming exercises that reinforces the concepts taught.

The course prepares you to do the following:

  • Understand front panels, block diagrams, icons and connector panes
  • Use built-in LabVIEW functions
  • Working with data types such as arrays and clusters
  • Use LabVIEW to create applications
  • Acquiring, saving and loading data
  • Find and use math and analysis functions
  • Use LabVIEW programs as subroutines
  • Use data-acquisition (DAQ) devices
  • Use Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX)
