U. of T. Modern Optics Mini-Workshop Y2K

This workshop is composed of half-hour talks on topics of current research interest in quantum optics and related areas, given as part of the course requirements for students in Physics 485F.

On Thursday, December 7th the workshop will run from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. It will take place in the 11th floor seminar room (1115) of McLennan Physical Labs.

There will be 5 presentations. The talks will be 30 minutes long, including 5 minutes for questions.
The students will be graded on the basis of 50% for their oral presentation, 30% for their handling of questions, and 20% for their participation in the discussion of the other students' presentations.

The program will be as follows:

17h30: Jean Zoch Light interaction with photonic crystals
18h00: Robert Ashby Atom lasers
18h30: Tine Ejdrop Pulsed lasers in molecular spectroscopy
19h00 BREAK
19h15: Patrick Gill Electromagnetically-induced transparency and "atom surfing"
19h45: David Glenn EPR, Bell Inequalities, and quantum teleportation
