Proposal for Implementation of a Universal Set of Quantum Gates Based on Optical Micro-Cavities

Abstract: Due to the possibility of having slow light near the photonic band gaps, the effective interaction time of the light and medium can be increased that in turn results in the enhancement of the non-linear optical coefficient of the medium. Thus it is possible to enhance optical non-linearities to obtain the required phase change to perform quantum gates (such as Hadamard). In my thesis a coupled resonator optical waveguide is taken into account that is made up of micro-rings. The number of required micro-rings to obtain the desired phase change to perform a Hadamard gate and its dependence on different parameters such as size and shape is studied.
