Abstract
The energetics of carbon clusters becomes more and more important for the cluster formation since the practical applications were established. We present the phenomenological theory which treats in a common basis nanotubes, fullerenes and other carbon fragments. The new mechanism of the nanotube formation will be discussed in detail.
