| Topic : | The Physics of Ruthenates: From Superconductors to Magnetic Insulators |

| Place : | Room 408, Burton Tower 60 St. George Street / 255 Huron Street |
Abstract
In the first part, I will discuss the general trend of the ground states
of ruthenates with different layer stacking. A variety of ground states,
ranging from superconductor, itinerant ferromaget, to antiferromagnetic
insulator, are stabilized by varying the dimensionality and the crystal
distortion.
In the second part of the talk, I will describe the crystal growth of
oxide superconductor Sr2RuO4 and enhancement of its
Tc (from 1.5 K to 3 K)
by insertion of metallic microdomains.
