STM: Scanning Tunneling Microscope

Various surfaces are studied with the STM down to atomic resolution. Several samples are available to study a variety of surface science effects. Quantum tunnelling is at the heart of this device and can be verified experimentally. Gerd Binnig and Heinrich Rohrer won the Nobel Prize in 1986 for the STM.


This is a new apparatus and there is not yet a write-up. See Operating Instructions Below.
