The electronic structure of atomically thin crystals depends sensitively on the layer-layer interactions, and it can give rich physical phenomena depending on the layer number and layer stacking. I will discover such layer-dependent properties in graphene, including a massless Dirac Fermion in monolayer graphene, a tunable semiconductor in bilayer graphene, and a Mott insulator in trilayer graphene and hBN Moire superlattice.
