Mar 19 ColloqThought experiments are performed in the laboratory of the mind.  They play a huge role in the sciences, especially in physics, and they are also important in philosophy and possibly even in mathematics.  We will look at a variety of interesting examples from physics and elsewhere and pose some problems about them:  How do they work?  What makes them reliable and why do they sometimes breakdown?
