Special Year-end Colloquium

Particle Fever is a 2013 documentary film tracking the events and personalities during first round of experiments at the LHC leading up to the discovery of the Higgs Boson.  The film begins in 2008 with the startup of the LHC and concludes in 2012 with the successful identification of the Higgs Boson.

The film was a major critical success and is probably the best physics documentary ever made.

This colloquium will feature the director of the film, Mark Levinson and one of its stars, Monica Dunford, who was a postdoc at CERN.  Levinson holds a PhD in Physics as well as being a very accomplished filmmaker.  Monica Dunford works on the ATLAS experiment and is now at the University of Heidelberg.

The colloquium will be a conversation about the making of the film, moderated by Alison Rose, of Inigo Films.

A SPECIAL SCREENING of Particle Fever will be held on Wednesday, April 1st, 8:00 pm at Koffler House, Room 108, UofT, 569 Spadina Avenue. Admission is free.

Sponsored by the Dept. of Physics and Inigo Films Inc.
