Postdoc Dr. Mingyu Fan, along with graduate student Bassam Nima and undergraduate Alek Radak, recently conducted a search for dark matter using high-precision spectroscopy of rare-earth nuclei. Their measurement, reported in Physical Review Letters, is the first demonstration of a new technique for sensing wavelike dark matter over an extremely broad range of particle masses.
