Communicating Science: Do's Don'ts, Can't and Won’ts

A workshop on why you want to talk to the public about science, how to get your story out, some hints about what strategies tend to work, and what usually doesn’t.

For over twenty years Jim Lebans has been a writer, producer, and presenter for CBC Radio’s show “Quirks & Quarks”, Canada’s national science radio program. Quirks & Quarks tackles tough topics from all fields of science and presents them in an accessible way to a broad Canadian audience. He wrote the book “Quirks & Quarks Guide to Space: 42 Questions (and Answers) About Life, the Universe, and Everything” in 2008. Currently Jim is the McLaughlin Centre Science Journalism Fellow at Massey College here at UofT.

Jim is an expert at presenting science in an engaging way, and will share with us today his experience on communicating science to the public.
