Abstract: I will introduce and discuss some ideas from the causal set theory approach to quantum gravity that provide potential insight on open questions in cosmology. My main focus will be the 1987 correct prediction of the order of magnitude of the cosmological constant, an idea that later became known as the Everpresent Λ dark energy model.
