Financial Support

  • There is no separate form to apply for financial aid. All accepted students will receive guaranteed financial support (including tuition fees) for 5 years - 1 year in the M.Sc. and 4 years in the Ph.D. program or 5 years during the direct entry Ph.D.
  • Students without external scholarships are guaranteed an annual level of support in the amount of $22,860 + tuition fees. This amount includes 140 hours of Teaching Assistantship.  Domestic direct entry Ph.D. students will receive a $3,000 Admission Award. For exact details of support and supplementary awards for scholarship holders, please check the financial support section in the Graduate Student Handbook.
  • Students are encouraged to apply for any external scholarships for which they are eligible. For Canadians and Permanent Residents this might include the NSERC Postgraduate Scholarship.  The Canada Graduate Scholarships - Master's Program (CGS M) application deadline is December 1st.  If you are planning to study in Ontario it could be the Ontario Graduate Scholarship. (Departmental deadline for submitting OGS applications is: March 1st for international students and May 1st for domestic students.) Some Non-Canadians can apply for Commonwealth Scholarships and Government of Canada Awards; check with the Canadian Embassy to determine your eligibility.
  • We do not normally accept self-funded students.
