The course is pass/fail.
The following scheme for the requirements to obtain a Pass grade has worked well in the past; class input will be requested at our first meeting.
A. Full attendance at a minimum of 10 of the 11 classes.
B. The submission of at least 8 of the 10 or so assignments.
(Most assignments are written, 600 words or less - not more! - double spaced. Others may involve preparation of a presentation, small group collaboration, a short project etc.)
C. Completion of the short weekly oral assignments.
(the number depending on class size; (extraordinary circumstances excepted!)
CAVEAT!
I hope that this course will be unlike most you have taken. Since it involves that most human of activities, which can really only be learned by doing, I will expect considerable interaction between all members of the class and a strong personal investment. Although the work involved outside of class may be less onerous than other graduate courses you may be taking, the personal commitment required will more than compensate!
