Shopping

Even the brightest minds have to eat sometimes...

Food/Groceries

As you surely have noticed, most grocery stores e.g. Dominion and neighbourhood groceries, are open 24/7. Prices vary from shop to shop, with some of the less expensive shops like Food Basics or No Frills closing at about 9pm. Good neighbourhoods to shop for food are Kensington market or Chinatown along Spadina.
If you feel like eating out, Chinatown along Spadina is a safe bet for good food at reasonable prices - about CAD5-7 for a huge lunch. A little further away is Korea Town along Bloor Street West between Christie and Bathurst at comparable prices. There is also Little Italy on College Street West of Bathhurst. Finally you will also notice the abundance of bigger restaurant chains in Toronto when you wander the streets :)

Furniture

As we do not want to endorse any particular company, we'd like to ask you to check the shopping and services section of Toronto.com or to google for it. If you need a desk or office furniture, UofT has a "swap shop" where you can used office furniture for free. It is located at the west end of Russell street by Spadina circle (just at the north corner of Russell in the basement) and has a sign so it should be easy to find it. It seems it's open only during academic year (Sep-May).

Electronics

There is a whole bunch of computer stores around the intersection College and Spadina just across the street. There are a few more stores right downtown along Yonge Street. It is probably a good idea to compare prices - like everywhere else.

Any other shopping

For any types of shopping you can check the stores by searching the shopping section of Toronto.com by type or neighbourhood. However unfortunately not all stores are listed there.
