Midterm test

A copy of the test is here.  Your mark will be posted on the BlackBoard page for this course when it is ready. You will get your test back from your TA in your seminar session.

The average mark on the test was 72%.  The standard deviation was 11.  Well done!

How to study for this test

Download and read over the class notes for the lectures.  Read over the posted notes and follow the links for further reading.  We have not really started on the topics from the textbook yet, but the first 3 chapters of the book do discuss some of the history and Newtonian ideas that we have touched upon.

Below is a list of some relevant or straightforward links you can read about the stuff we have talked about so far.

-- The whole idea of emergence, and strong vs. weak emergence

-- The universe on difference scales, thought of as a Great Chain.

-- Newton, Maxwell and the classical paradigm of Physics, such as Newtonian gravity

-- A little movie about the Standard Model of Particle Physics

-- a little bit about the Quantum World.

-- Something about particle accelerators and the Rutherford experiment.
