The Atlas experiment has collected data corresponding to 5.25 fb-1 of proton-proton collisions and 159 ub-1 of Pb-Pb collisions in 2011.  The talk will illustrate the operational experience of the semi-conductor tracker, its interaction with the LHC beams conditions, the main backgrounds and a short review of some physics results where the tracker performance is particularly relevant.
