Quantum Field Theory I
Official description
An introduction to Quantum Field Theory and Quantum Electrodynamics. Topics include: Failure of single particle relativistic quantum mechanics, multiparticle quantum mechanics and quantum field theory, canonical quantization, symmetries and conservation laws, interacting fields and Feynman diagrams, spin 1/2 fields and the Dirac Lagrangian, gauge invariance and QED.
 Prerequisite
 (1) Lagrangian and Hamiltonian formulations of classical mechanics. (2) Maxwell equations, energy and momentum of the electromagnetic fields, Lorentz invariance (special relativity). (3) Nonrelativistic quantum mechanics, in particular, angular momentum theory will be relied upon.
