Congratulations to Gabriel Andolfatto on being awarded the Momentum Builders Scholarship!

The scholarship was established by the Department of Physics, with support from the Faculty of Arts & Science, to support and encourage Black and Indigenous undergraduate students who are interested in Physics.

Gabriel just completed the Mathematics & Physics specialist program at U of T and is a member of the Namgis First Nation of Vancouver Island, where he grew up. During his first year of undergrad, he attended various seminars/colloquia on topics in condensed matter physics, which inspired him to pursue research projects on unconventional SC, and cold atoms. Next year he is starting his M.Sc. in Physics at U of T, where he will study spin models that aid in the design of quantum materials, which may host interesting magnetic ground states. After his M.Sc.e, he plans to do a Ph.D. on related phenomena in condensed matter and hope to continue pursuing physics research after.
