Gabriel Andolfatto awarded the Momentum Builders Scholarship
The scholarship was established by the Department of Physics, with support from the Faculty of Arts & Science, to support and encourage Black and Indigenous undergraduate students who are interested in Physics.
Gabriel recently completed the Mathematics & Physics specialist program and is a member of the Namgis First Nation of Vancouver Island. During his first year of undergrad, he attended seminars on topics in condensed matter physics, inspiring, him to pursue research projects on unconventional SC, and cold atoms. Next year he is starting his M.Sc. in Physics at U of T, where he will study spin models that aid in the design of quantum materials, which may host interesting magnetic ground states. After his M.Sc, he plans to do a Ph.D. on related phenomena in condensed matter and hope to continue pursuing physics research after.

Miguel Garcia Alonso awarded the Loudon Hines Gold Medal and Momentum Builders Scholarship in Physics
Miguel graduated in June 2025 with a Physics Specialist, and a Math Minor and Computer Science Minor. The award is given to the graduating student in the Specialist or Major Program in Physics with the highest CGPA.
