Hosting almost 82 % of Canadians, cities are complex systems particularly vulnerable to climate change while being an important source of its intensification. Following developments of land surface schemes in weather and climate models, urban modules integrate the interaction of urban elements with the atmosphere. This presentation will present research progress for urban modeling in weather and climate prediction systems, the development of health applications and the use of these numerical capabilities for impact studies to address socio-economic challenges.
