Black holes and fuzzballs

Fuzzball picture, which emerged in the last decade, proposes a resolution of the black hole information paradox by replacing the empty space separating horizon and singularity with nontrivial structures extending to the horizon.

This talk will review the basic ideas of the fuzzball proposal and discuss recent progress in constructing geometries corresponding to microscopic states of the D1-D5-P black hole. New field theoretic results, which shed some light on physics of Hawking radiation through AdS/CFT correspondence, will also be discussed.
