UofT Conferences

Q-Site Conference

Quantum information science and technology (QIST) is a rising multidisciplinary field with promises to revolutionize many fields including cryptography and communications, simulation and material discovery, sensing and new materials, and computing. This is currently challenging engineers, physicists, computer scientists, mathematicians, economists, and policymakers worldwide to push forward, collaborate, and make breakthrough discoveries and new policies. This has prompted many institutions to start offering QIST related courses and programs at the undergraduate levels.

Q-SITE engages undergraduate students in QIST by inviting researchers and educators from academia and industry to give talks, panels, and tutorials on cutting edge research topics and industry-leading applications. The Q-SITE program is specifically designed to jump start attendees’ quantum curiosity and careers – from the ground up.

INSPIRE - Interdisciplinary Science Program in Research and Entrepreneurship

The INSPIRE Scholar's Program runs June 15-26, 2026 at the University of Toronto Mississauga campus. This program is open to all Science students, particularly Physics and Chemistry undergrads, with a desire to learn more about the Quantitative Life Sciences.

In this intensive, two-week-long program, you’ll get to work with scientists and industry professionals in a variety of quantitative life science fields, across scales from single proteins to microbial systems. You’ll also receive a crash course in research translation and innovation, participating in workshops within SpinUp, U of T’s first Life Sciences incubator. What’s more, all of this is available to successful applicants FREE OF CHARGE!

To learn more about INSPIRE, visit their website at uoft.me/UTM-INSPIRE to find out how to apply, see program requirements, and read about what students did in past years. If you’re ready to apply, do so at tinyurl.com/INSPIREAPP2026. INSPIRE is geared to third- and fourth-year undergraduates who wish to pursue graduate school in Physics, Chemistry, or Cell and Systems Biology, but strong applicants in their second year will be considered.

Applications are OPEN NOW and close MARCH 30! utm.inspire.info@gmail.com

Other Conferences

Canadian Undergraduate Physics Conference (CUPC)

The Canadian Undergraduate Physics Conference (CUPC) is an annual event organized by and for Canadian undergraduate students in collaboration with the Canadian Association of Physicists (CAP). It is hosted by a different university each year, usually held over an extended weekend in October (4 days). Physics students from across Canada meet at CUPC to present oral or poster contributions on various topics related to physics, to attend specially invited lectures, tour local research facilities, meet with representatives from participating institutions that offer graduate degrees in physics, and meet with a representative of the CAP Executive to learn more about the association and its support of physics in Canada.

Visit https://cupc.cap.ca/ for detailed information.

Canadian Conference for Undergraduate Women in Physics (CCUW*iP)

The annual Canadian Conference for Undergraduate Women & Gender Minorities in Physics (CCUW*iP) is a national conference gathering physics students and professionals from across the country. Delegates will be participating in plenary lectures, workshops, panels, networking activities, student poster presentations, and more.

This professional conference aims to create an environment where delegates can build networks, present research, and explore career paths, while also promoting diversity and discussing minorities in physics, mental health, and LGBTQ+ issues.

For more information, please visit the CCUWiP website or https://cap.ca/.

Physics Undergraduate Conference at Western (PhUnC)

PhUnC is an annual undergraduate physics and astronomy conference organized by the Physics and Astronomy Students’ Association (PASA) of Western University. The conference features research presentations, a keynote talk, panels, and a job/industry fair. It is an excellent opportunity for undergraduate students to present their work on a summer research project, honours thesis, or any physics topic of interest, including interdisciplinary physics research. Attendance is free, and full registration details can be found at the link below.

Canadian Undergraduate Medical Physics Conference (CUMPC)

The Canadian Undergraduate medical physics conference (CUMPC) is a virtual conference for students pursuing medical physics related research projects and for students that are interested in learning more about this field. This free conference will focus on highlighting medical physics undergraduate research across Canada and is an excellent opportunity for students to present their research. Students will also be able to meet and interact with graduate students and leading experts in the field. It is not a requirement to be a presenter to participate in this conference, as students who would like to learn more about the field are encouraged to participate.
