The U.S. National Quantum Initiative, along with similar initiatives funded in other countries, aims to develop a new generation of technology, so-called Quantum 2.0, which may have revolutionary impacts on science and information technologies. What is Quantum 2.0, and What is the state of the art? Why now? How did the U.S. NQI come about and what are its goals?
