Ania Harlick, Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream in the Department of Physics, has been named as the recipient of a 2023-2024 Faculty of Arts & Science Outstanding Teaching Award – Early Career. This award recognizes teaching excellence in undergraduate and graduate education, with a focus on classroom instruction and course design and/or curriculum development, for early career faculty, particularly over the past two years.

Ania's nomination file demonstrated widespread enthusiasm for her contributions and achievements as an outstanding teacher, as well as her exceptional commitment to student learning, pedagogical engagement, and teaching innovation.

Since her arrival at the University of Toronto in September 2021, Ania has become a highly valued colleague, recognized for her effectiveness as an instructor and for her contributions to curriculum development in PHY132 - Introduction to Physics II, PHY293 - Waves and Modern Physics, PHY224 - Practical Physics, and the Advanced Physics Laboratory. She employs new and innovative teaching strategies that promote critical thinking, problem solving, and scientific writing skills to enable her students to succeed.

Professor Harlick expresses her gratitude on this recognition, "I have always wanted to be a teacher. And I have been extremely lucky to be able to do that job at one of the best institutions in the world. I think I have a dream job and being recognized for doing what you love makes this award very special".
