Macroscopic quantum effects with Kerr nonlinearities

Abstract

I will introduce our research about creating and detecting macroscopic quantum effects related with Kerr nonlinearities. In the first part, I will talk about the precision requirement to observe macroscopic quantum effects. We found that although strong nonlinearities may help to avoid high precision requirement of reading the outcome, there is a price of increasing the control precision to perform the experiment. In the second part, I will talk about our proposal to create and detect highly entangled macroscopic quantum states with weak Kerr effect.
