Abstract
The recent success of producing spin-orbit interactions in cold atom systems has opened up many new directions in cold atom research. In this talk, we shall discuss the general principles underlying the creation of spin-orbit interaction and more generally non-abelian gauge field. As two examples, we discuss the effects of spin-orbit interaction on the structure of Bose-Einstein condensate and that of the BEC-BCS crossover in fermion system.
