Strong Field Coherent Control of Atomic and Molecular Dynamics

Ultrafast laser pulses can be used to drive and capture atomic and molecular motion in real time.  Shaping these pulses allows us to control the dynamics we observe.  I will discuss some experiments that follow bond breaking and formation driven by an ultrafast laser pulse. I will also discuss experiments where a shaped ultrafast laser pulse is used to control strong field atomic population transfer and lasing of an atomic ensemble. I will conclude with some future prospects and goals.
