I review theoretical implications of results of recent experimental analyses of mixing and CP-violation in charmed mesons. I discuss existing theoretical challenges and successes in understanding transitions of those mesons within the framework of the Standard Model. I argue that in many New Physics scenarios strong constraints, that surpass those from other search techniques, could be placed on the allowed model parameter space using the existent data from studies of charm transitions.
