Walking Technicolor from Gauge/Gravity Duality

Recent developments in string theory provide a powerful tool to study (some) gauge theories at strong coupling. More precisely, non-perturbative field-theoretic problems can be mapped to (almost) classical gravitational computations in a different number of dimensions. This is especially interesting for walking technicolor theories, which are an alternative to the Higgs mechanism. I will outline the underlying reasons behind this new tool, known as Gauge/Gravity Duality (a special case of which is the more famous AdS/CFT correspondence). Furthermore, I will describe a dual gravitational description of a model of walking technicolor. Using this gravity dual, one can compute the electroweak S-parameter explicitly. The answer is compatible with current experimental constraints.
