Dates to remember
For lecture courses, Physics classes begin and end following then Arts & Science sessional dates. Note that cross-listed courses (typically numbered PHY14xx) follow the undergraduate calendar, and start a bit earlier than graduate-only courses (typically numbered PHY15xx or PHY2xxx). In addition, a few Physics-specific dates are (as of 2021-22):
Tuesday after Labour Day – In-person orientation program for new students begins.
Sept 9 – Completed applications for NSERC Vanier internal deadline. Students applying for the Vanier scholarship should email grad@physics.utoronto.ca anytime prior to application deadline to ensure their application will be considered.
Thursday after Labour Day – Cross-listed Fall session courses start (typically numbered PHY14xx).
Monday after Labour Day – Most graduate Fall term (-F code) courses start.
Sept 17 – Completed applications for NSERC CGSD and PGSD internal deadline (including reference letters). Applicants must access the online application at NSERC. See NSERC instructions.
Sept 17 – Final date by which MSc students in Option II must have their MSc oral examination.
Dec 1 - NSERC CGSM deadline.
End of first week in January - Confirm PhD supervisor (if you did not already in Fall term)
Second week in January - Most graduate Winter term (-S code) courses start.
Mar 1 – Completed applications for international OGS due.
May 1 – Completed applications for domestic OGS due.
