The December 12th application deadline is the date by which ALL APPLICATION MATERIALS MUST BE SUBMITTED to the online application portal; this includes all supporting documents and reference letters. (Two reference letters are required; no more than two reference letters are permitted.) We recommend that applicants complete their online application and pay the $125 CAD application fee well in advance of the December 12th deadline to allow referees ample time to submit their letters.
- Students with major national or international scholarships may apply after the December 12th deadline and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
The Get To Know Us Weekend for all applicants admitted to the Department of Physics will take place in March.
Due to funding priorities and the sequence in which graduate courses are offered, the MSc and PhD programs are aligned with a September start. A January start is uncommon (normally not more than one student per year) and available only to domestic applicants who wish to pursue a four-year PhD program. The deadline to apply for a January start is August 1st. Other applicants who desire a January start should apply for a September start; upon admission they may then request a one-term deferral to January.
We do not provide paper application forms or application packages. The application is entirely online. All relevant information and instructions, including access to the online application portal, are available on the our website at Application Procedures.
Information regarding research in the Department of Physics is available on our website at Research.
